Not much to update, just a few new pics. We're starting to get Frankie on solid foods now, slowly but surely. We've got a sitter-upper but not crawling yet. Having fun with both the kids as you can see.

Here you can see her trying to figure out what her brother is up to. He is singing about stomping on things.
We are getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. I think we have some plans lined up for dinner and the rest of the long weekend will be spent relaxing.

OK folks I know it's been forever since my last blog. Camera and software problems (as well as the lack of time to figure them out) have kept me away but finally we're back.
A lot has happened in Frankie's life since the last update. She is now grabbing things with her hands and putting them in her mouth. She is also smiling and interacting with people. She is really turning into a person right before our eyes. We've seen it before but it's still quite amazing to watch.
She spends a lot of time in her little bumbo chair (a small rubbery chair good for kids between 3 and 8 months - once they develop more movement it's useless.) As you can see above, we have gone camping with the kids. Overall it went great. This was our second trip. Our first one didn't go so well. (I was still recovering from being sick, we got a late start, the site was noisy, etc.) but the above spot was perfect. Not too many people, lots of room, and we were better prepared. It's kind of unfair, but, we were near a Starbucks so I drove there in the a.m. instead of making our morning coffee over the fire. We also invested in a couple of air mattresses (a queen size for Laura and I and a kids size for Christian) so we were quite comfortable. The main problem was that Frankie woke up in the middle of the night and had a hard time getting back to sleep. It was a little cold at night. I think our camping season is probably over.
We are now struggling to get Frankie to take a bottle. Christian's preschool won't let mom watch Frankie while she volunteers so she has to be away for about 4 hours. If Frankie won't take a bottle then this arrangement won't work. More updates sooner. See also www.kevbonson.blogspot.com for Christian's updates.

We finally captured the elusive smile! The first pic above was actually taken by a friend just a few days ago at U Village.
Frankie has been doing great but is also kind of a fussy baby recently. She has been difficult to get settled at times. Mom does a much better job than I but sometimes I am the only one who can calm her down. Car rides are difficult.
A couple weeks ago we did drive all the way to Chelan, about a 3.5 hour drive, but 5 with kids. It wasn't so bad but she did have a couple of rough spots. We did have a wonderful time in Chelan though.

Should we be worried?
Frankie is now about 7 weeks old. She's working on her smile, which has been hard to capture via picture but it's happening more and more, so we should be able to get a smile pic soon.
She takes baths once per week with her big brother, who is all too happy to have a bath companion. He is also eager to help, and perhaps a little too eager. Last time he poured a full cup of water over her face to help rinse.
She is a fussy baby. We can almost never put her down without her crying. I have a pretty good ability though to keep her quiet. I hold her in a little cuddle position with her pacifier in, and I have to hold her tight so that the pacifier doesn't fall out. But I usually get her quiet in about 2 minutes. I hold her usually between about 8-10 every night after Christian goes to bed, and weekend mornings.
We went for a hike yesterday and Frankie did just fine in the ergo. On the way back I put Christian in the ergo and carried him on my back, and Laura made a sling out of my sweatshirt and breastfed Frankie while walking.

One of the above four pics is Christian almost 3 years ago. While the pink top is a giveaway, I think it's hard to tell the difference otherwise.
Some women are in labor longer than we were in the hospital. Laura checked in around 3:30 or so on the 15th and they kicked us out the 16th at about 7:30. If we decide to have 3, I'd better read up on how to deliver babies.
Frankie has been eating nearly nonstop since she was born. I feel sorry for Laura not being able to rest for long periods of time. But we've agreed that if she's just plum tuckered then dad can feed her formula tonight.
Christian loves his baby sister but has also been acting up a little, wanting attention. But this is understandable and we knew it would happen. We are making sure he knows he's loved too. Today we flew a kite at Gasworks park and I took some pics there too.

2:00 p.m. Laura falls while walking on the street. Her water breaks immediately.
3:30 p.m. Laura's mom gets her to the hospital.
6:17 p.m. Little Frankie Kincade is born. Mother and daughter are doing well.
She looks a little gray in the weighing picture above, but, you can see, she got color in her face very soon. I forgot how quiet and cute a newborn cry is. They get lungs in a few months. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
She is breastfeeding a crazy amount. She is very healthy and I think we'll get booted from the hospital today. More updates to come.
